Bring on the B-HAG’s
John Sutton brought that acronym back to the front of my mind this week, as did my current reading, “The Innovator’s Solution” - one of the followup books to “Dilemma.” Big Hairy Audacious Goals don’t make a great company - they are a driving force, and the intention and effort to achieve them is - in part - what makes a great company. Or industry. The wave of change that’s been building in public broadcasting in the past few years, thanks in part to the visionaries of our industry, is now a measurable force. New Realities was a collective moment of realization that some things have to happen, even if many can’t quite articulate exactly what they are yet. That’s alright. We’re going to have an exciting summer ahead, trying to flesh some of this out. I can’t wait.
