MobileMe moves to center stage?

MobileMe two weeks in: I’ve basically stopped using Google Calendar entirely. It continues to stay in lock step with iCal via Spanning Sync, but I’ve really been getting into letting MobileMe push calendar stuff to my phone and iCal on a couple of computers.

I experienced some calendar downtime for a couple hours on Monday, but otherwise, I’ve not had trouble. Syncing remains almost immediate between the iPhone and the cloud… around every 15 minutes as far as the computer is concerned.

I’m going to have to pay attention to this over the next couple weeks, and I have no intention of shutting down GCal, but I’m surprised how quickly I’ve taken to the calendar function on MobileMe.

So, to answer the question in the title of the post, not yet, but this bears watching.

Very encouraging since I’m thinking about making the move to MobileMe soon! When are you visiting?

Glad to hear your implicit endorsement of Spanning Sync, which appears (per my Googling at least) to be the primary tool to enable a GCal to iCal transition. What I have yet to attempt is seeing whether the Outlook synchronization will be satisfactory to get data to my still-functional/still-valuable Treo 700W

That’s a good question. I had decent results going from Microsoft Entourage to my Treo 700p back in the day. It worked through some weird hocus pocus involving sync services on the Mac and Palm software, if I remember right. Let me know how it works!

SyncMate is doing the job for me now.
