TSOYA: Thorn and Hossfeld make the Times
Jesse Thorn got married last month, and that’s pretty cool, but it’s even more cool when the wedding makes The New York Times.
Maybe it’s because he’s America’s Radio Sweetheart. Maybe it’s because the reception was catered by a taco truck. Or maybe because the wedding has been a big topic of conversation for quite awhile now on Jordan, Jesse Go! Was it because The Sound of Young America is distributed by PRI? Well, no, I don’t think so. Whatever the case, his wedding made the Times and yours didn’t.
More important, why is Thorn’s wedding getting space on my blog? That’s easy. 1. I like Jesse and think he’s creative. 2. I like taco trucks. 3. He got in the Times because he got married. (It’s not the only time he’s been in the paper.)
This is a chance for me to pimp The Sound of Young America, which is a fun show; and Jordan, Jesse Go!, and, while I’m at it, You Look Nice Today… both of which are funny and should be on the radio, except that they’re too hip for the generally bland sound of weekend public radio. Both have found large audiences and a devoted following through iTunes, however.
There are three simple podcast subscriptions you can add to your iTunes playlist, or to your Zune, Mr. Thorn.
A wedding reception catered by a taco truck - that rocks.
