    todd,
I was listening to npr's critique of vp sarah palin's acceptance speech on last night at the RNC and all the half truths she spouted were quickly blown out of the water by one of npr's investigators that has a truth meter in his office or on his desk somewhere. My problem is she knew that some of her rantings were untrue and she continued to go on and on much to the delight of the crowd. Incidently, one of John Mccain's untrue ad just ran in my local area. My question is did she and he have the same speech writer? I simply cannot understand how lies and inuendo can be believed even by absentminded republicans. To imply that Barack hasn't passed or help pass any major legislation or his community service is unworthy of character contributions of any kind is like burying your head in the sand. I am a c-span junkie and will be calling in to the Washington Journal to air my disgust.

nettie52 – thanks for the comment. I try to avoid discussing politics here because of my position, but your thoughts remind of something Jay Rosen wrote an excellent piece about this issue of truth and lies, suggesting what he thinks the McCain strategy might be:

Strategy: Comes from Bush, the younger. When realities uncovered are directly in conflict with prior claims, consider the option of keeping the claims and breaking with reality. Done the right way, it’s a demonstration of strength. It dismays and weakens the press. And it can be great theatre.

    Todd,

Not that this has anything to do with anything, but I happened across your site after seeing your old show referenced on michiganradio.org and it brought back so many funny and happy memories of hearing you in the morning hosting Michigan radio. I just wanted to say thanks for what you did and for what you continue to do (I am sure). I can't seem to get that Brady version of the “when it's time to change you've go to rearrange” promo out of my head before you left now….The Kentuckians don't know how lucky they are to have you.

    Thanks,

    Brian

What the hell are you guys doing over there? You've ruined your station! The only intelligent station in the whole area and now you are dumbing it down. I'm appalled.
